NURSE MOM, BRITT.

Hi! I’m Britt.

I am a Board Certified Registered Nurse with experience working in both Emergency Medicine and Labor & Delivery. I am also a Mom to three beautiful boys and a proud Firefighter wife. I felt prepared and excited to give birth to my first baby, but everything that came after that felt like being stranded on an island “naked and afraid.” I was discharged home from the hospital, brought my newborn baby home, and suddenly I was all on my own learning how to navigate the fourth trimester-postpartum and care for my beautiful newborn baby all alone…

I discovered Sleep Training in 2020 when I gave birth to my first son and was struggling with sleep deprivation as well as understanding my baby’s immediate needs- was he hungry? Was he tired? Does he have gas pains? Fast-forward to just one month after implementing sleep training and a schedule, I suddenly had a baby who was sleeping through the night by 3-months of age. Then come my second and third babies; and while each one of my babies had different temperaments and their own unique needs, they were all sleeping 12-hours through the night by just 3-months old.

We started implementing a flexible schedule and a consistent bedtime routine, and we watched in amazement as our son started thriving and becoming predictable in his needs. Having our son on a schedule wasn’t a forced or rigid structure- it actually:

  1. Allowed our baby to get consistent daytime feeds so that he was getting adequate calories throughout the day.
  2. Allowed our son’s maturing GI system the chance to rest and digest at nighttime as he started to stretch his sleep.
  3. Gave us the ability to communicate & understand our baby’s needs as well as better connect with him emotionally.
  4. Predictability: He started nursing every 3 hours during the day, he took his naps at the same time every day, and he went to bed the same time every night. He was on this amazing eat-wake-sleep routine and it all happened so naturally! So when he was fussy, we knew if it was because he was hungry vs. tired vs. overstimulated vs. if something else was going on- it was no longer a guessing game “why is our baby crying?”
  5. Bath and bedtime became our favorite time, because it was a time for the sweetest 1:1 cuddles as well as emotional connection with our baby (who LOVED the warm water from the bath and he actually started to fall asleep in the bath almost every night)!
  6. Gave other caregivers the ability to understand our baby’s needs and follow a schedule that didn’t have them guessing: When should I feed the baby? When should he take a nap? How many ounces does he take per feeding? We always received such positive feedback and praise that our schedule made caring for our son “so much easier because he knew his own schedule, was so happy and so easy to care for.”

I became passionate about Sleep Training and supporting other Mamas in the ‘Fourth Trimester’ so I started to help friends (mostly during the day) while working as a L&D RN by night. My passion has grown exponentially over the years and I decided to get my official Sleep Consulting certification with a specialty in Newborns! I will also be hosting Postpartum Workshops to help prepare Mamas for the Fourth trimester & bringing their sweet babies home!

Let’s get some sleep Mamas!
